Polyester yarn oil, also known as polyester spin finish, is a surface treatment agent specifically formulated for the production and processing of polyester filament yarns (such as POY, FDY, DTY). This product is a blend of base oils (mineral or synthetic), surfactants, and multiple functional additives. It exhibits excellent lubrication, antistatic, emulsifying, and uniform oiling properties.
This formulation effectively reduces friction and breakage during high-speed spinning, texturing, and weaving processes, prevents static electricity build-up, ensures uniform oil film distribution, and enhances stability in subsequent dyeing and weaving operations. Furthermore, it washes out readily during scouring and dyeing processes without compromising the quality of the finished product.
Spinning oils are typically meticulously formulated from multiple functional components to meet the demands of high-speed spinning and subsequent processing:
1. Lubricants: Based on synthetic ester oils or refined mineral oils, they provide primary lubrication, reducing friction between fibres and mechanical components to minimise breakage rates.
2. Emulsifiers: Ensure stable dispersion of the oil in water, enabling uniform coverage of lubricants across filament surfaces to form a continuous oil film. Antistatic agents: Effectively neutralise static charges generated during fibre friction, preventing filament adhesion and fly-out.
3. Binders: Enhance interfilament bonding strength, maintaining compact filament bundles to avoid snagging and pilling, thereby improving package formation quality.
4. Other additives: Including sliver gathering agents, preservatives, defoamers, softeners, and leveling agents. These improve post-processing properties according to specific process requirements, such as enhancing dyeing uniformity, increasing heat resistance, or boosting weaving efficiency.
Depending on the application and spinning process, polyester yarn oil can be categorised as follows:
NO.1 POY: Pre-Oriented Yarn Oil. Used in POY semi-drawn yarn production, requiring excellent lubricity and antistatic properties to prevent hairiness and breakage during stretching and texturing, whilst facilitating subsequent degreasing.
NO.2 FDY: Fully Drawn Yarn Oil. Employed in fully drawn yarn production, emphasising stable oil film formation, superior bundling properties, and heat resistance. This ensures optimal formation at high spinning speeds, yielding compact and uniform yarn packages.
NO.3 DTY: Draw Textured Yarn Oil. Utilised for drawing textured yarns, demanding strong penetration and anti-static properties. This facilitates smooth yarn winding on texturing machines, enhancing winding formation and weaving performance.
